Langa Church
Hi Friends.
We welcome you to the official Langa Seventh-day Adventist Church Website.
Lift Up Christ, Tell The World!!!
On the 12 April 2008, we had what someone called ‘a very successful’ Community Guest Day. We had approximately 30 visitors and members of the Langa Community. The issue of whether it was successful or not depends on how and whether we will sustain the relationships we have started. The glue that keeps any relation growing is communication. The acid test for how serious we are about evangelism and strong relations with the Langa community is the strength of our communication with them and how we continue to inform, involve and invite them to our programmes.
By this we mean, from now on all departmental leaders and committees need to make it their personal responsibility to engage with the people that visited us, our neighbours, the schools and youth groups about the various activities that will be happening each Sabbath. For example, if the health department will be running a health programme, they must inform the community about the health issues that will be dealt with, the times and what the programme will look like. The same applies to men’s ministries, youth ministries etc. from now on, in a practical sense, our programming must be relevant to the Langa community and we must invite them. If for example we are planning to handle a drug problem, the community, the churches around, the police, the clinics and the schools must know about that. We have the list of names of community people, schools etc and their addresses including email addresses. All what is needed is someone from our departments to ask for them.
Everything that we do must have evangelism as its focus. Our Division’s the theme for the year 2008 is Mega-Evangelism. As part of this, Pastor Mark Finley is coming to South Africa in September 2008. All churches and individual members need to involve themselves in evangelism and preparations for Mark Finley reaping campaign. So what we are doing, the giving of food parcels, visitors of homes, inviting people to church etc has a bigger objective. I encourage all our members and leaders to visit this website for more information.
We are calling on all departmental leaders to positively embrace this in order for our programmes to have not only in reach and internal relevance, but also out reach and community relevance.
Last but certainly not least, the building project is poised for completion. The financial difficulties are real and severe in our country. The impact is felt in our cupboards and stomachs. It is at time like these that we need to turn to God and worship him. We encourage all of us to continue giving towards the completion of the building project. Just imagine in your mind how it would be on the day when we dedicate the church. Imagine the beauty of a finished work. That is not far from now, if we can try and sustain our giving and deliver on our pledges. It is in tough times where wants to see how much we trust Him. So church member, God is our side. He sees our difficulties and He knows our struggles. If indeed you are struggling with honouring your pledges, please speak to the building committee people.
May God Bless all of us.
